The Expendables 2

OK girls, this is a perfect movie to watch with your boyfriend after he has bigheartedly accompanied you to see endured your favorite rom coms and chick flicks. You won’t be sorry too, it is packed full of crazy action and characters’ trademark humor. If you’re not into that, at least these guys are quite gratifying eye candies.

V, my sister, and I went to see this on Saturday. It wasn’t our first choice, or even our second. We had planned to see Total Recall or Seeking a Friend for the End of the World but as luck or fate would have it, none of their showtimes suited our schedule. The Expendables 2 was the only logical alternative. I was pleasantly surprised because I was expecting paper-thin storyline and non stop special effect kind of action, but it was quite riveting and entertaining. There, my honest opinion as a girl.

Have you seen the new Disney – Pixar collaboration Brave? I had high hopes for it and saw it with V last Friday. It was entertaining, but not quite hitting the mark for me. I cannot be sure if it’s the unconventional moral of the story. They did great with Merida’s character visual design though. Gotta love the auburn hair!

Snow White and the Huntsman

Snow White and the Huntsman was released in Singapore on 31 May and I watched it immediately! I’m not a fan of Kristen Stewart, I think they could have cast a stronger female lead like Natalie Portman or Scar Jo, but thankfully Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth make up for her lack of pull onscreen. Charlize is brilliant and electrifying as the evil queen, as I’ve expected, but it’s Chris who comes as a very nice surprise for me! His acting is alright, there’s definitely room for improvement, but he has a handsome (how’s that for an understatement?) face that portrays strength and kindness really well, perfect for the Huntsman character in the movie! Zac Efron is another actor with that quality that comes to mind, I practically melted when I watched him in The Lucky One.

Okay, I think I have a weakness for guys with brooding good looks. Although now that I’ve googled enough pictures of the two of them, I conclude that Chris has a better look. Zac can appear slightly gay. But hey, the guy can sing! Chris, on the other hand, has a very deep resonant talking voice and that’s attractive too. Hmm… I’ve turned this into a face-off, haven’t I?

I’ll end this with another picture.  Do you know that it was Chris who played George Kirk in Star Trek? Neither did I!

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

I just saw Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close on DVD. It was hauntingly heartbreaking. I think anyone who’s lost anybody important in their lives know that people do not really get over it. They say time heals. I’d say it helps, but you would never be whole again.
